Job Summary:
We are seeking a weekend chef to prepare and serve meals. You will follow set menus designed to provide a diverse and nutritious diet for our residents. In this role, you will ensure residents enjoy a balanced and varied diet throughout their stay at Oasis Bradford.
Main duties of the Chef:
- Prepare menus as agreed with the Centre Manager, including vegetarian options.
- Cater to religious and cultural dietary needs.
- Prepare nutritious, appealing, and wholesome meals.
- Respond to requests for special therapeutic diets as advised by healthcare and dietetic staff, including calcium and vitamin D supplementation.
- Ensure residents properly set and clear tables.
- Assist residents with washing up and tidying as part of their therapeutic responsibilities.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness in the kitchen.
- Conduct all procedures in accordance with food hygiene, Health and Safety legislation, and emergency procedures.
- Report any faulty appliances, damaged equipment, or hazards to the appropriate staff.
- Adhere to all centre policies and procedures within specified timescales.
- Familiarize yourself with care standards and regulations relevant to your role.
- Work individually and as part of a team to meet the centre's objectives and residents' needs.
- Maintain effective communication with staff, colleagues, and residents.
- Perform any additional duties as required.
- Participate in training and development programs to enhance your contribution.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a chef.
- Level 2 Food Hygiene certification.
- Ability to prepare nutritious, well-balanced meals, including special dietary needs.
- Knowledge of food hygiene, Health and Safety regulations, and kitchen safety procedures.
- Strong organizational skills for menu planning and meal preparation.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Effective communication skills.
- Flexibility to adapt menus based on dietary advice and requests.
- Ability to report issues promptly.
- Willingness to engage in training and development.
