About the role:

As a Weekend Chef at Highfield House AP, 7 Lydia Street, Woodnook, Accrington, Lancashire, BB5 0PX

Approved Premises (APs) contribute to the effective risk management of people released from prison by providing an enhanced level of supervision, monitoring and rehabilitation within the community. The post will provide you experience of working with complex and vulnerable people and an understanding of residential setting within the Criminal Justice System. What you’ll do:

  • Plan, prepare, cook, and appropriately present meals to residents.
  • Follow recipes well and have experience in volume cooking.
  • Ensure routine day-to-day and specialized cleaning of kitchen equipment, work surfaces, floors, and storage areas.
  • Control waste related to preparation and cooking.
  • Maintain the highest standards of health, hygiene, and safety.
  • Manage and control all food, including receiving and checking stock, equipment, and materials, and monitoring portion control.
  • Collect routine data and ensure daily checks, including temperature controls, are properly carried out.
  • Report accidents, near misses, damage, or breakages immediately to the Catering supervisor.
  • Ensure the Catering Department opens and closes at the required times and is secured when not in use.
  • Undertake any other tasks relevant to the role.
  • Attend relevant training sessions to perform your role effectively.
