Job summary

Eurest in Waltham on the Wolds is seeking a passionate Sous Chef to join our team. You will prepare breakfasts and lunches, support day-to-day kitchen operations, and help keep high standards of food quality, hygiene and service.

This role offers a structured weekday pattern (7:00am–3:00pm) with evenings free, a focus on stock management, ordering, and paperwork, and the chance to develop cooking skills within a busy catering environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a professional kitchen, ideally in a Sous Chef or similar role.
• A strong understanding of food safety, health and safety, and kitchen compliance.
• Good organisational skills and the ability to manage stock, ordering and kitchen paperwork.
• A genuine passion for food, with a focus on quality, consistency and presentation.
• Able to work effectively in a team and adapt to a busy catering environment.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and cooking breakfasts and lunches for customers.
• Supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the kitchen.
• Helping with menu planning and ensuring food offering remains fresh and appealing.
• Managing stock levels, completing stock takes and placing orders.
• Completing daily kitchen paperwork and ensuring all health and safety procedures are followed.
• Maintaining cleanliness, food hygiene and kitchen compliance.
• Serving customers and creating a welcoming dining experience.
• Supporting and covering team members during periods of annual leave.
• Stepping up to keep the kitchen running smoothly.
