Job summary

Berkeley Scott is recruiting a School Catering Assistant for Stoke-on-Trent. The role involves helping prepare and serve meals for pupils and staff within a school kitchen environment, with a focus on hygiene and safety. The position offers Monday–Friday weekday work and weekly pay.

Ideal candidates have catering or kitchen porter experience, an Enhanced DBS, and relevant food safety certificates or willingness to obtain them. Travel between locations may be required.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Catering Assistant or Kitchen Porter.
• A valid Enhanced DBS check.
• Driving licence is beneficial but not essential for occasional travel.
• Food Safety Level 2 certificate, or willingness to obtain.
• Food Allergen Awareness certificate, or willingness to obtain.
• Reliable, punctual and flexible approach to work.
• Ability to work well as part of a team and follow instructions.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with the preparation and serving of meals to pupils and staff.
• Supporting the kitchen team with daily catering duties.
• Washing up and maintaining cleanliness throughout the kitchen and dining areas.
• Following food hygiene, health and safety procedures at all times.
• Following food allergen procedures to help protect pupils with allergies.
• Travelling between locations where necessary as part of the Catering Assistant role.
