The role

As a Weapons Engineering Instructor, you'll play a vital role in supporting the operational readiness of the Royal Navy’s submarine fleet. Working within a specialist training environment, you'll deliver high-quality training on sonar and tactical weapons systems, helping to ensure personnel have the skills, knowledge and confidence needed to operate and maintain some of the UK's most advanced defence capabilities.

Day-to-day you'll be required to:
  • Deliver specialist Weapons Engineering training focused on sonar and tactical weapons systems.
  • Review and updating training materials to ensure content reflects operational and technical developments.
  • Provide technical expertise to support course development, system changes and training improvement initiatives.
  • Complete training administration, reporting activities and learner records in line with quality standards.
  • Support security compliance activities, audits and the protection of sensitive information and assets.

The role is based onsite at HM Naval Base Clyde, Faslane, and the set working times are Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week.

Essential experience of the Weapons Engineering Instructor
  • Sound knowledge and practical application of submarine Tactical Weapons Engineering Systems, ideally on Astute Class submarines.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of sonar, integrated communications systems, command systems or weapons engineering disciplines.
  • Experience working independently and managing priorities effectively.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Qualifications for the Weapons Engineering Instructor
  • Former Royal Navy Weapons Engineering Watch Keeper.
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of Weapons Engineering equipment.
  • Strong information technology skills.
Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
