Job summary

Schroders is seeking an experienced Head of Wealth Management Operational Risk to lead the Wealth Management Operational Risk team within its Non-Financial Risk function. You will manage a small team, provide oversight of risk across Wealth Management, and influence senior stakeholders while balancing strategic direction with day-to-day activities.

Qualifications

• Educated to degree level.
• Significant Wealth Management and operational risk management experience.
• Strong knowledge of operational risk frameworks, policies and risk appetite.
• Experience of emerging risk oversight, including AI.
• Good understanding of regulatory requirements relating to operational risk.
• Experience of risk and control assessment methodologies across business areas, new products and change.
• Experience overseeing risk event processes, investigations and escalations.
• Experience producing operational risk reporting for governance forums.
• Knowledge of ICAAP/ICARA scenarios and capital requirements.
• Strong project management and leadership skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong written communication skills.
• Ability to manage and develop a high-performing team.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Wealth Management Operational Risk team and set risk oversight priorities.
• Cultivate relationships with senior stakeholders to embed risk culture across Wealth Management.
• Provide proactive risk guidance to senior stakeholders on operational risk matters.
• Identify emerging risks, including AI-related risks, and ensure mitigations are in place.
• Present risk trends and issues to governance committees and senior management.
• Collaborate with Group Operational Risk and first-line to deliver ICAAP/ICARA outputs.
• Oversee risk event investigations, escalation, and lessons learned.
• Ensure timely escalation of Significant Risk Events and issues within appetite.
• Support risk appetite statements development for Wealth Management entities.
• Provide training and governance support across Wealth Management functions.
