Job summary

McGeoch Technology Ltd. in Birmingham is seeking a Waterjet Operator to set up and run water jet and laser cutting equipment. You will load materials, monitor performance, and ensure products meet specifications through quality checks.

The role requires reading drawings when available, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a busy manufacturing environment. Training and progression opportunities may be available.

Qualifications

• Experience operating manufacturing machinery (water jet, laser, CNC or similar).
• Reading engineering drawings is desirable.
• Attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality work.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate water jet and laser cutting machines.
• Load and unload materials safely and efficiently.
• Monitor machine performance and adjust settings as needed.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions.
• Carry out quality inspections using measuring equipment.
• Identify defects or production issues and report them promptly.
• Complete production records and maintain documentation.
• Carry out routine machine cleaning and basic maintenance checks.
• Ensure materials are correctly identified and handled.
• Work to production schedules and meet daily output targets.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
• Follow Health and Safety procedures and company policies.

McGeoch Technology Ltd. is a well:established and expanding manufacturing company based in Birmingham and due to their current projected growth, we are now looking to recruit for the position of Waterjet Operator.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate water jet and laser cutting machines.
• Load and unload materials safely and efficiently.
• Monitor machine performance and make routine adjustments where required.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions.
• Carry out quality inspections using measuring equipment to ensure products meet specification.
• Identify defects or production issues and report them promptly.
• Complete production records and maintain accurate documentation.
• Carry out routine machine cleaning and basic maintenance checks.
• Ensure materials are correctly identified and handled.
• Work to production schedules and meet daily output targets.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
• Follow all Health and Safety procedures and company policies.

About You

• Has experience operating manufacturing machinery (water jet, laser, CNC or similar preferred).
• Can read engineering drawings (desirable).
• Has good attention to detail and takes pride in producing high:quality work.
• Is comfortable using measuring equipment such as verniers and tape measures.
• Can work independently while also contributing as part of a team.
• Has good communication skills.
• Is reliable, punctual and has a positive attitude.
• Is willing to learn and develop new skills.

Hours

• Monday to Thursday 1430 : 2300
• Friday 1100 : 1600
