Job summary

Mott MacDonald Bentley is seeking a Civil Engineer to shape civil functions across the project lifecycle in the UK water sector. You will prepare and review designs, ensure compliance with standards, and contribute practical, safe solutions from feasibility through construction.

The role offers mentoring toward chartership and collaboration with design, construction, commercial and client teams, with flexible working and development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering, or related field.
• Working towards being Chartered/Incorporated member of a professional institution.
• Experience with water or wastewater projects, or other infrastructure works.
• Deliver high quality outputs in accordance with design, quality and safety standards.
• Effective communication with team members and stakeholders.
• Methodical approach to problem solving.
• Proactive and pragmatic approach.
• Ability to deliver results within short timeframes and manage time efficiently.
• Valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and reviewing designs for schemes and ensuring they meet current legislation and standards.
• Producing and reviewing technical specifications and procurement schedules.
• Understanding and applying design standards with client and industry standards.
• Challenging client specifications and defending solutions to complex problems.
• Identifying opportunities to improve delivery processes and digital tools.
• Acting as technical checker on project documents and performing reviews.
• Managing interfaces and integration of design with other disciplines.
• Collaborating with engineers, specialists, client and project teams.
• Working with commercial, operational and construction teams for safe solutions.
• Supervising and mentoring graduates and engineers.
• Engaging with the client to support project aims.
• Undertaking site reviews to ensure buildability.
