Job description

Water Treatment Engineer / Project Engineer

Coverage Area: Southeast region including Kent, Central London, Hertfordshire

Salary: GBP40k-GBP45k DOE

Working Days: Monday to Friday

Are you a detail-oriented and driven professional with expertise in water treatment and Legionella risk assessments? Our client is seeking a Project Engineer to join their expanding team, focusing on pre-mobilisation, design coordination, and project delivery.

As a Water Treatment Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

1. Attending site visits across the UK.
2. Conducting comprehensive Legionella risk assessments compliant with ACoP L8, HSG274, and British Standards.
3. Producing clear, accurate reports with actionable recommendations for clients.
4. Developing and maintaining tailored water system control schemes.
5. Performing routine water monitoring and sampling, including temperature checks, dip slides, pH, and conductivity.
6. Executing chlorination, disinfection, and minor plumbing remedial works in accordance with BS 8558.
7. Analyzing and dosing closed water systems as required.
8. Liaising professionally with clients, providing compliance updates and technical advice.
9. Maintaining detailed service records and logbooks, ensuring legislative compliance.
10. Identifying opportunities to improve water system safety and efficiency.
11. Performing any other duties as required.

Skills & Qualifications required:

1. City & Guilds or equivalent qualification in Water Treatment, Plumbing, Mechanical Engineering, or Environmental Science.
2. Accredited Legionella Risk Assessment qualification (e.g., City & Guilds).
3. Full UK driving license.
4. Experience in water treatment and hygiene services.
5. Proven expertise in conducting Legionella Risk Assessments following ACoP L8 and HSG274 guidelines.
6. Experience in routine water system monitoring, cleaning, disinfection, and sampling.
7. Ability to work across healthcare, education, commercial, and industrial environments.
8. Strong knowledge of Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations, ACoP L8, HSG274, and BS 8558.
9. Understanding of closed system treatment and basic Building Management Systems (BMS).
