Job summary

HS2 Ltd. is recruiting for an environmental/water data role within the Midlands project teams. Based in Birmingham, you will support data handling, QA/QC, and the production of monitoring documentation across the project footprint.

You will liaise with environmental managers, assist on groundwater risk assessments, and help prepare quarterly reports and stakeholder communications. Flexibility for on-site work with driving responsibilities is expected.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to use Office tools to prepare documents and reports.
• Comfortable coordinating with multiple teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Produce and QA/QC data and monitoring documents for water/environment projects.
• Support submission of monitoring data to internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Liaise with environmental managers and specialists on incident responses.
• Assist with site monitoring plans and groundwater risk assessments.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Prepare Quarterly Reports and environmental documentation.

Job description

HS2, Britain’s new high-speed railway is at peak construction. Balfour Beatty VINCI is HS2’s construction partner in the Midlands, responsible for delivering 90km of the route, from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and on to Handsacre in Staffordshire.

Location

Based in Birmingham - the Central Region runs from the east of Birmingham into the city centre, comprising Sublot Delta, 1B, 4 and 5S. More than 50% of the structures within IPT Area North are located in the Central Region. This region, which covers a complex urban environment, also includes the 3.5 mile twin bore Bromford Tunnel. It also includes Interchange Station, as well as crossing three major highways (A45, M6 and M42).

• Instrumental in the production of Quarterly Reports for Consents.
• Work with BC ensure all document are compliant and uploaded to BC and EB.
• Work with the environmental and sustainability team to deliver documents (Quarterly Reports, Ground water Risk Assessment, Acrylamide Use, Monitoring Plans).
• Reviewing of required consented and permitted monitoring.
• QA/QC of data collection and documents.
• Submission of water monitoring data to BBV (Sublot Environmental Teams and Water specialist) and Stakeholders (the Environmental Agency. DJV, and HS2)
• Liaising with sublot Water Specialist / Environment Managers during incident responses
• Specialist input into site specific monitoring plans
• Specialist input into site specific groundwater risk assessments
• Liaising with specialist teams for drilling new monitoring wells.
• Liaising with sub-contractors to ensure GW monitoring requirements are met and for installation and maintenance of still wells.
• Undertaking other reasonable duties appropriate to the role and in support of the wider environment / water team
• Understanding of the benefits of working collaboratively to problem solve and obtain the best outcome.
• Good IT skills and confident in the use of Office applications – Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Full driving licence.
• Confidence with excel/data.
