Job summary

HS2 Ltd. in the UK seeks a Health, Safety & Wellbeing Assurance Advisor based in Coventry to support the Sublot H&S Manager and advise on safety matters on site across the Midlands.

The role requires active engagement on health and safety issues, adherence to CDM and relevant UK legislation, and regular site presence to coordinate assurances and safety briefings. Driving licence and UK work eligibility are essential.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in Construction Health and Safety, ideally including major construction projects with similar themes to HS2.
• Driving licence

Responsibilities

• Support the Sublot H&S Manager.
• Provide advice and support on all health and safety related issues to colleagues on site.
• Advise on project compliance with the BBV health and safety management system and relevant UK legislation such as CDM, Work at Height etc.
• Attend site daily to engage with colleagues and supply chain regarding health and safety matters.
• Facilitate and be the point of contact for all internal and external H&S assurances.
• Ensure actions from assurances are closed and embedded in to relevant safe systems of work.
• Plan and coordinate Assurance activities.
• Support project and construction colleagues to deliver safety briefings and safety presentations.
• Review of safe systems of work to embed findings from assurances and incidents.
• Participate in reviews of the Project Health & Safety Management System.
• Provide support and advice to accident and incident investigations and ensure HS2 reporting database is updated.
• Work closely with the H&S Admin team to provide required information.

HS2, Britain’s new high-speed railway is at peak construction. Balfour Beatty VINCI is HS2’s construction partner in the Midlands, responsible for delivering 90km of the route, from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and on to Handsacre in Staffordshire.

Current Opportunity: Health, Safety & Wellbeing Assurance Advisor – HS&W

Location:

Based in Coventry - the South Region comprises Sublots 2B, 2A and 1A Long Itchington Wood. It stretches for approximately 39.2km from Finham Brook to Southam through a mixture of rural and suburban landscapes

• Support the Sublot H&S Manager.
• Provide advice and support on all health and safety related issues to colleagues on site.
• Advise on project compliance with the BBV health and safety management system and relevant UK legislation such as CDM, Work at Height etc.
• Attend site daily to positively engage with colleagues and supply chain regarding health and safety matters.
• Facilitate and be the point of contact for all internal and external H&S assurances
• Ensuring actions from assurances are closed and embedded in to relevant safe systems of work.
• Plan and coordinate Assurance activities
• Support project and construction colleagues to deliver safety briefings and safety presentations.
• Review of safe systems of work such as Risk Assessments and Method Statements to ensure that findings from assurances and incidents are embedded
• Participate in the regular reviews and updates of the Project Health & Safety Management System, including but not limited to the Construction Phase Plan, Plant and Vehicle Management Plan, Emergency Plan and others as deemed necessary for the project.
• Provide support and advice to accident and incident investigations and ensure that the HS2 reporting database is updated,
• Work closely with the H&S Admin team to provide required information.
