Job summary

Anglian Water is seeking an Abstraction Strategy and Regulation Manager to lead abstraction strategy, regulatory risk management, and Public Interest Case development. The role focuses on shaping long-term sustainable abstraction strategies and ensuring regulatory commitments are delivered across AMP programmes.

You will work with regulators and external bodies to balance water security with environmental protection, driving innovative approaches and maintaining robust governance across WRMP29,

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent professional experience in environmental policy/regulation/science/engineering.
• Experience leading complex projects or programmes.
• Strong regulator-facing experience in environmental or water sectors.
• Ability to develop evidence-based regulatory cases.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; confident with senior stakeholders.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret risks and data.
• Ability to lead across multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead on abstraction strategy, regulatory risk management, and public interest case development.
• Manage abstraction licence change risks across AMP programmes and regulatory commitments.
• Collaborate with regulators, environmental bodies, consultants, and internal experts.
• Maintain a central record of licence changes, drivers, risks, and mitigations.
• Provide strategic insight on emerging regulatory trends and opportunities.
• Champion health, safety, and continuous improvement across the team.
