Job summary

South East Water is seeking a Regulatory Lawyer to shape compliance and strategy within the water sector. You will provide expert legal advice to key functions, navigate Ofwat guidance, and protect the business from regulatory risk while driving a culture of compliance.

Reporting to the Head of Strategy and Economic Regulation, you will draft charging documents, contribute to regulatory reporting, and advise on regulated contracts and change programmes, ensuring governance and stakeholder

Qualifications

• A relevant law degree or equivalent qualification or demonstrable level of experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to present complex information clearly.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on regulatory obligations and policy; ensure compliance with licensing, competition law, and charging rules.
• Draft and update charging documents and tariffs in line with regulatory requirements.
• Advise on regulatory reporting; contribute to APR and board statements.
• Draft regulated contracts and standard terms to meet wholesale/retail code requirements.
• Develop expertise in the regulatory framework and inform colleagues of changes.
