Job summary

South West Water is seeking a Water Resources Business Partner to lead the development and delivery of operational water resource strategies across Bristol, Bournemouth and SES Water regions. You will work with operations, regulators and stakeholders to secure reliable supplies while balancing abstraction licences, risk and costs.

The role requires strong analytics, cross-functional collaboration and a proactive approach to resilience planning with travel as required.

Qualifications

• Experience working within the water industry.
• Strong understanding of water resources operations and management.
• Experience developing and implementing operational or business strategies.
• Ability to work effectively with regulators, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and support business decisions.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• High level of numeracy and attention to detail.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Leading the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of water resources operational strategies.
• Providing expert advice and guidance on water resource management, abstraction licences, and operational risk.
• Working with operational teams to ensure effective decision-making and efficient use of water resources.
• Developing and implementing decision-support tools that improve operational performance.
• Monitoring compliance with abstraction and impounding licences and providing performance reporting.
• Building strong relationships with regulators, including the Environment Agency, and acting as a key business contact.
• Identifying and mitigating risks that could impact water resource operations.
• Supporting and training colleagues on operational procedures and water resource strategies.
• Collaborating across multiple teams to ensure alignment with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and industry best practice.
