Job summary

Severn Trent is seeking a Laboratory Scientist to join our Water Quality & Environment team. You will undertake microbiological analysis of drinking water and related samples from treatment works, service reservoirs and taps, delivering regulatory commitments to the Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI).

You will use the Laboratory LIMS to report results, ensure testing meets priority deadlines, and maintain ISO competency and CPD records.

Qualifications

• Analytical, methodical mindset and the ability to communicate and work effectively as part of a team.
• Strong IT and problem-solving skills and good attention to detail with the ability to keep accurate records.
• Minimum of six months lab experience and a higher qualification in a scientific discipline or membership with a professional body.

Responsibilities

• Undertaking microbiological analysis of drinking water and associated samples.
• Report results using the Laboratory LIMS and ensure samples are tested within priority deadlines.
• Maintain DWI and ISO competency requirements through proficiency testing, CPD, and method witness audits.
• Identify atypical results, investigate and respond appropriately and escalate non-conforming work.
