Job summary

South Staffordshire Water is seeking a Water Treatment Scientist based at Seedy Mill, Lichfield, to safeguard public health by ensuring safe, high-quality drinking water across our sites. The role involves collaborating with Operations, Engineering and Water Quality teams and delivering expert guidance on treatment processes.

You will investigate water quality issues, analyse data (including SCADA), and drive continuous improvement in a regulated environment.

Qualifications

• Degree in a relevant scientific discipline (Chemistry, Environmental Science, Microbiology or related).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret complex data.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, able to present technical information clearly.
• Strong IT skills and experience with data analysis/reporting tools.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness for standby rota.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with Drinking Water Quality Regulations and standards.
• Analyse water quality and process data, including SCADA data, to optimise treatment.
• Investigate water quality incidents and prepare detailed reports with recommendations.
• Identify risks in treatment processes and develop mitigation plans.
• Provide specialist advice to operations, engineers and projects.
• Maintain and update water treatment procedures and guidance.
• Support Water Quality team in cross-functional projects and meetings.
• Design and deliver training on water quality and treatment processes.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for quality and compliance.
