Job summary

Bristol Water is seeking a Network Quality Assurance Technician to monitor contractor activities, ensure compliance with standards, and support safe, efficient network operations across the distribution network.

The role requires experience in water utilities, knowledge of risk assessments, and strong stakeholder management. DBS checks may be required; you will join a team focused on quality and regulatory compliance within a 24/7 standby framework.

Qualifications

  • Experience in water network operations, utilities, or infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of water network construction, repair, maintenance and reinstatement activities.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and safe systems of work.
  • Ability to interpret and apply risk assessments and method statements.
  • Experience working with contractors and external partners.
  • Strong customer service and stakeholder management skills.
  • Good organisational and planning capabilities.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Competent use of IT systems and mobile working technologies.
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of operational performance measures.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and monitor contractor activities across the network.
  • Ensure works comply with specs, NRSWA, permits, and environmental obligations.
  • Identify and address workmanship and quality concerns.
  • Assess contractor performance and service levels.
  • Ensure adherence to risk assessments and operational procedures.
  • Promote and maintain safety culture and SHEQ compliance.
  • Monitor contractor compliance with SHEQ requirements.
  • Conduct site inspections and risk assessments with controls.
  • Support planned and reactive network activities.
  • Assist in maintaining network integrity and resilience.
  • Contribute to planning, traffic management, and scheduling.
  • Participate in standby and emergency response.
  • Deliver professional customer‑focused service.
