Job summary

Eurofins Scientific is seeking a laboratory analyst to perform microbiological testing on water samples, including plate reading and reporting results to customers. You will work within a team to meet testing timelines in a clean, safe environment and support quality tasks daily.

The role requires GCSEs in Maths/English/Science, practical lab experience, and the ability to train others. Sponsorship is not offered. Working hours are 37.5 per week, Wednesday to Sunday, 07:00–15:00.

Qualifications

• GCSEs in Maths, English, Chemistry or Biology or equivalent.
• Knowledge of microbiological testing methods and laboratory safety protocols.
• Experience working in a laboratory setting, preferably in the food or water sector.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Good laboratory practices and computer literacy.
• Strong attention to detail and organisation.
• Good communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Perform microbiological testing analysis and identify colony morphologies for all tests.
• Train others and perform additional confirmatory work on suspect colonies.
• Enter results into the Laboratory IT system and ensure correct reporting calculations.
• Adhere to quality procedures and participate in calibration checks and quality controls.
• Support daily quality tasks and ensure timely results with customer requirements.
• Carry out root cause analysis for non-conforming work and seek improvements.
• Provide accurate results and maintain confidentiality with customers.
• Collaborate with team to meet demand and streamline turnaround times.
• Maintain aseptic techniques and cleanliness; manage training records.
• Follow lean production principles and contribute to continuous improvement.
