Job summary

Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water is seeking a depot-based operative to help resolve network and leakage issues and maintain water supply. You will respond to customer queries, liaise with internal teams and partners, and contribute to achieving leakage targets using detection techniques.

The role emphasizes safety, accuracy in records, and effective workload management, with opportunities to collaborate with contractors and stakeholders across operational teams.

Qualifications

• GCSE Grade C in English and Maths or equivalent qualification/experience in a relevant engineering, utilities, environmental, water operations or technical discipline.
• Experience of providing good customer service.
• Experience of working in a team to solve problems.
• Knowledge of the water industry.
• Able to communicate well and respond to problems.
• Able to build relationships with internal departments, partners and contractors.
• Able to work to tight deadlines and in difficult circumstances.
• Proficient with Microsoft software and internal company systems (GIS, PMAC, LIBRA, LMARS).

Responsibilities

• Help resolve network/leakage issues to maintain water supply and minimise customer inconvenience.
• Respond to and resolve customer and public issues, liaising with internal departments and partners.
• Ensure leakage targets are achieved using leakage reduction/detection techniques.
• Follow Health & Safety procedures and take responsibility for safety.
• Maintain records and update information across IT systems daily.
• Organise and prioritise workload with minimal supervision and manage competing priorities.
• Build effective relationships with colleagues, contractors and stakeholders.
• Support continuous improvement of network performance through inspections, investigations and recommendations.
• Undertake other duties to meet business needs.
