Water Infrastructure Design Lead

Job summary

Fyba Talent is seeking a Design Manager to provide technical leadership across water and wastewater design and delivery. You will oversee permanent and subcontract design personnel, coordinate workloads and ensure designs comply with project requirements and company procedures.

You will mentor staff, manage budgets, report progress to senior management, and act as a key technical contact for water sector clients across multiple projects.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering or related field.
• Proven experience in a senior engineering or design management position in water projects.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary water design teams across multiple projects.
• Knowledge of water project development, design, construction and commissioning.
• Understanding of civil, mechanical and electrical disciplines in the water sector.
• Familiarity with water treatment, clean water and wastewater processes.
• Experience with preconstruction design, estimating and cost planning.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and delivery of multidisciplinary design solutions for water and wastewater projects from concept to implementation.
• Manage workloads, resources, priorities and progress across the water design team.
• Ensure designs meet quality, environmental, health and safety, and technical standards.
• Identify design risks or deficiencies and implement practical, cost-effective solutions.
• Manage design changes and issue notifications to Project Managers and clients.
• Coordinate water design activities with engineering, manufacturing, construction and project management teams.
• Resolve technical issues between designers, reviewers and document originators.
• Lead multidisciplinary water engineering teams within budgets and programmes.
• Act as key technical contact for water clients, managing expectations and relationships.
• Support water-sector tenders, estimates and preconstruction activities.
• Mentor team members, conduct appraisals and identify training needs.
• Report on water design progress, risks and performance to senior management.

Education

Engineering degree or equivalent

Senior design/engineering management in water sector

Water-sector preconstruction design, estimating & cost planning

CSCS / DOMS / National Water Hygiene / Confined Space / IOSH advantageous
