Job summary
Ganymede Solutions Ltd is seeking a PLC / Controls / Automation Engineer for a major water industry project based in London with a Leicester-based scope. The role is an initial six-month contract outside IR35, with a strong likelihood of extension and a rate between £45 and £55 per hour.
You will work in a multidisciplinary team, delivering PLC/SCADA, control systems, instrumentation and electrical engineering solutions, with hands-on technical input and rigorous testing throughout design,
Qualifications
- Water industry experience – essential
- Strong experience with PLC / control systems / automation
- Experience with PLC software and control system engineering
- Knowledge of SCADA, HMI and industrial control systems
- Understanding of instrumentation and electrical systems
- Experience supporting FAT, SAT, testing and commissioning
- Experience working within multidisciplinary project teams
- Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills
- A practical approach to engineering and project delivery
Responsibilities
- Supporting the design and delivery of PLC and control system solutions.
- Providing technical input into automation, controls and EICA engineering activities.
- Reviewing and developing control philosophies, functional specifications and technical documentation.
- Working with PLC/SCADA systems, instrumentation and associated control equipment.
- Reviewing electrical, instrumentation and control drawings and identifying interfaces or potential issues.
- Supporting PLC software development, modification and testing where required.
- Working with engineers, contractors, suppliers and site teams to resolve technical and integration issues.
- Supporting FAT, SAT, testing, commissioning and site activities.
- Ensuring control and instrumentation requirements are properly coordinated throughout project delivery.
- Troubleshooting control, automation and instrumentation issues and providing practical engineering solutions.
- Supporting project delivery from design through to installation, testing, commissioning and handover.
- Ensuring engineering activities meet the required water industry, quality, safety and technical standards.
