Job description

As a Water Technician within our Maidstone branch, you will work across NHS and mental health buildings, primarily visiting NHS sites to ensure water compliance with Legionella legislation and regulations. Mears Kent FM Branch operates over two NHS Trusts - KCHFT & KMPT, including active ward settings such as mental health wards.

Responsibilities:
  1. Carry out Legionella monitoring as per ACOP L8 4th Edition 2013, including temperature monitoring, showerhead cleaning, tank inspections, and calorifier cleaning.
  2. Perform building and system surveys related to water compliance.
  3. Collect potable water samples for Legionella/TVC testing when applicable.
  4. Clean and disinfect cold-water storage tanks (training provided).
  5. Service and maintain thermostatic mixing valves.
  6. Maintain accurate records in site logbooks.
  7. Produce job reports, certificates, and simple line diagrams.
  8. Engage with customers and provide feedback.
  9. Adhere to Mears Group Policies, Processes, and systems, including ISO standards.
  10. Support continuous improvement in Water Hygiene services.
  11. Operate Mears IT systems as required.
Role Criteria:
  1. Experience working to industry standards.
  2. Knowledge of domestic and commercial water systems.
  3. Ability to use industry-related tablet software.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  5. Organized, logical, with a strong work ethic.
  6. Experience in social housing or facilities management environments.
  7. Full UK driving license.

All roles require entitlement to work in the UK; visa sponsorship is not offered. To operate a Mears vehicle, candidates must be over 21, have held a license for over 3 months, and have fewer than 9 points.

All roles are subject to DBS/Security checks before employment begins.
