Job summary

Strategic Placements is seeking a Water Hygiene Engineer to conduct on-site monitoring, sampling, cleaning, and servicing activities. The role requires independent fieldwork across sites with some HM Prisons involvement, requiring clearance where applicable.

The successful candidate will have at least three years of water hygiene experience, strong paperwork skills, and knowledge of ACOP L8 and HSG274 Part 2. Full driving may be involved.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years' relevant water hygiene experience.
• No criminal convictions; clearance (CTC/SC) required for some sites.
• Existing CTC or SC clearance would be an advantage.
• Or apprenticeship-trained plumber with Legionella and water hygiene experience.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine monitoring and inspections.
• Perform temperature checks and CWST inspections.
• Take water samples and perform showerhead cleaning/descaling.
• Carry out TMV servicing and fail-safe testing.
• Complete water hygiene remedial works within competence.
• Manage your own working day and provide accurate paperwork to Operations.

Job description

We're looking for engineers who already have practical Water Hygiene experience and are comfortable working independently out on the road. The role covers routine monitoring and inspections, temperature checks, CWST inspections, water sampling, showerhead cleaning and descaling, TMV servicing and fail-safe testing, together with water hygiene remedial works within your competence.

You'll need a good working knowledge of ACOP L8 and HSG274 Part 2, be confident dealing directly with clients and, importantly, be able to produce accurate electronic paperwork and recommendations following your visits.

Experience with tank cleaning and disinfection, water softeners, cooling towers, plumbing or confined-space work would be a real advantage, although we're happy to talk to candidates with a strong core Water Hygiene background who want to develop further.

We're looking for someone dependable, professional and capable of managing their own working day. The quality of the paperwork and communication back to our Operations Team is just as important to us as completing the physical work correctly.
