Job summary

Mark May is seeking a reliable Water Hygiene Engineer to join the team in South London. The role focuses on ensuring water systems are compliant withACOP L8 and HSG 274, performing sampling, tank inspections, and TMV servicing across a varied site portfolio.

Ideal candidates will have experience in water hygiene or Legionella control, a full UK driving licence, and strong communication and organisational skills to work independently or as part of a team.

Qualifications

  • Experience in water hygiene or Legionella control.
  • Strong knowledge of ACOP L8 and HSG 274.
  • NVQ or City & Guilds in Plumbing or related field preferred.
  • Experience working in commercial or healthcare environments is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine water hygiene monitoring tasks including temperature checks and water sampling.
  • Perform cleaning and disinfection of water systems and tanks.
  • Assist with remedial plumbing works and pipework modifications.
  • Complete accurate service reports using company systems and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Deliver excellent customer service and represent the company professionally on-site.

About the Role

We are looking for a reliable and experienced Water Hygiene Engineer to join our growing team in South London. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in water hygiene or Legionella control to work across a varied portfolio of sites, ensuring compliance and safety of water systems in line with current regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out routine water hygiene monitoring tasks, including:
  • Temperature checks
  • Water sampling
  • Tank inspections
  • Calorifier inspections
  • TMV servicing and fail-safe checks
  • Perform cleaning and disinfection of water systems, including cold water storage tanks and hot water systems
  • Assist with remedial plumbing works such as pipework modifications, minor installations, and removal of dead legs
  • Complete accurate service reports and records using company systems
  • Ensure all work is carried out in line with health & safety regulations and company procedures
  • Deliver excellent customer service and represent the company professionally on-site
Requirements

Essential:

  • Previous experience in water hygiene or Legionella control
  • Strong knowledge of ACOP L8 and HSG 274
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Desirable:

  • NVQ or City & Guilds qualification in Plumbing or related field
  • Legionella Awareness / Water Hygiene training
  • Experience working in commercial, industrial, or healthcare environments
