Job summary

AECOM invites applications for Civil Engineering Graduate Water roles across multiple UK locations with a hybrid work model. You will gain hands-on experience in water system design, hydraulics, and regulatory compliance while collaborating with a global team.

You’ll study alongside senior engineers, develop technical and project-management skills, and pursue professional qualifications such as ICE/CIWEM as part of a comprehensive graduate development programme.

Qualifications

• BEng in Civil or Structural Engineering with a 2:1 (or equivalent)
• MEng in Civil, Structural or Water Engineering (civils) would be advantageous
• Water-related modules would be an advantage
• Relevant work experience would be an advantage
• Enthusiastic, hard-working, technically proficient, with ambition and drive
• Basic computer skills (Word/Excel) and good report writing skills beneficial
• Willing to work towards ICE & CIWEM qualifications
• Demonstrable interest in water projects
• Ability to meet client and business expectations and consider financial implications
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and ability to prioritise work

Responsibilities

• Undertake numerical analysis using computer-based programmes for potable, surface and wastewater systems
• Conduct technical and feasibility studies to appraise solutions for potable, foul, surface water and attenuation requirements
• Produce designs of water infrastructure such as pump systems and pipe networks
• Create sketches, models, and check and consolidate final drawings
• Stay up-to-date with regulatory legislation and guidelines affecting design work
• Collaborate with team members on technical work, site work, and project management
• Opportunities for site visits to understand how designs are implemented
