Job summary

AECOM invites applications for a Civil Engineering Apprentice (Water) with a start in Summer 2027, based in Edinburgh or Glasgow. The role is full-time with a hybrid working model, pairing you with an experienced engineer on live projects and development tasks.

Applicants should be committed to a structured training pathway, including on‑the‑job learning, external civil engineering training, and potential Chartered Institute progress. UK work eligibility is required.

Qualifications

• SQA Highers with grades AABB or BBBBC (Mathematics desirable)
• A-Levels at ABC or BBB
• Foundation Apprenticeship in Civil Engineering with SQA Highers at AAB (Mathematics desirable)
• Combination of qualifications totaling 96 SCQF credits at level 6 or Minimum 126 UCAS points

Responsibilities

• Undertake technical feasibility studies for potable, foul and surface water and attenuation requirements with calculations
• Produce designs of water infrastructure such as pump systems and pipe networks with safety considerations
• Create technical engineering drawings including plans, sections and details
• Conduct numerical analyses using computer-based tools for water systems
• Keep up to date with regulatory legislation affecting design work
• Collaborate with team members on technical work, site work and project management
• Opportunity for site visits to understand design implementation
