Job summary

AECOM's Water team in Belfast is offering civil engineering industrial placements for students. You will gain experience across water-related design, hydraulic modelling and calculations, working with multidisciplinary teams on real projects within a global infrastructure firm.

You will develop skills in calculations, report writing and use of engineering software, with hybrid work options and a culture that supports learning and development in a global organisation.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a BEng in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Pursuing an MEng in Civil, Structural, or Water Engineering MSc would be advantageous
• Water-related modules would be advantageous
• Demonstrable interest in water engineering; good report writing and communication skills

Responsibilities

• Undertake numerical analysis including use of computer-based programmes to assist with potable, surface and wastewater systems
• Undertake technical and feasibility studies to appraise practicability of alternative solutions in potable, foul, surface water and attenuation requirements
• Undertake structural analysis and design including determination of design situation and load cases using analysis software
• Produce designs of water infrastructure such as pump systems and pipe networks with attenuation to safety in design
• Produce sketches, check and consolidate final working drawings created by Technicians
• Work with other team members on technical work, site work, and project management
