Job summary

AECOM's Water team in Belfast is offering civil engineering placements for students to join over the summer or for longer term industrial placement. You'll gain experience across water infrastructure design and analysis, and collaborate with specialists on global projects.

You'll work on hydraulic modelling, design of water networks, report writing, calculations, and BIM workflows; mentorship from senior engineers, with hybrid working in the UK.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in civil/structural engineering is required.
• MEng in civil/structural or water engineering would be advantageous.
• Water-related modules would be a plus.
• Enthusiastic, hardworking and technically proficient with ambition and drive.
• Good report writing and communication skills with internal/external clients.

Responsibilities

• Undertake numerical analysis using computer-based programmes for potable, surface and wastewater systems.
• Carry out feasibility studies to appraise alternative water solutions.
• Perform structural analysis and design including load cases and software.
• Produce designs of water infrastructure such as pump systems and networks.
• Prepare sketches and consolidate final drawings from Technicians.
• Collaborate with the team on technical work, site activities and project management.
