Job summary

AECOM in Belfast is seeking a Water Graduate Mechanical Engineer to join our mechanical water team. The role combines design and assessment of pump systems, plant layouts and hydraulic specifications in a hybrid work setting, with opportunities to contribute to asset improvements and new builds.

The successful candidate will have a strong engineering foundation, enthusiasm, and a willingness to pursue professional registration while collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams on water projects

Qualifications

• BEng MechanicalEngineering (2:1 or above) or equivalent.
• MEng in Mechanical Engineering (2:1 or above) would be preferred.
• Relevant work experience would be an advantage.
• Enthusiastic, hardworking, technically proficient with ambition and drive.
• Basic computer skills (Word/Excel) and good report writing skills are beneficial.
• Water-related modules would be an advantage.
• Willing to work towards professional qualifications (IET/IMechE).
• Demonstrable interest in water projects.
• Ability to satisfy client and business expectations with awareness of financial implications.
• Excellent communication to internal and external clients, verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Pumping calculations and specifications.
• Production of system schematics.
• Production of equipment and drive schedules.
• Engineering specifications for hydraulics and pump systems.
• Collaborating with clients to aid project delivery and performance.
• Production of lifting, access and maintenance plans.
• Liaise with internal/external design teams, clients and contractors.
• Timely reporting to client and team lead.
