Job summary

South West Water Limited is seeking a Mechanical Craftsperson to maintain and repair our water treatment assets, pumping stations and reservoirs, ensuring a safe, reliable service for communities. This hands-on role offers variety, opportunity to develop technical skills and work within a team dedicated to protecting the environment.

You will perform reactive maintenance, fabricate parts when needed, and support RAMS compliance while contributing to asset performance improvements.

Qualifications

• Completed apprenticeship in a mechanical or relevant technical discipline.
• Proven experience maintaining and repairing mechanical equipment.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills for complex assets.
• Sound understanding of RAMS and safe systems of work.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a safety-critical environment.
• Experience in wastewater treatment would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out reactive maintenance, repairs and fault-finding on a wide range of mechanical assets.
• Manufacturing, modifying and fabricating parts and equipment when required.
• Producing detailed specifications for replacement components and equipment.
• Supporting operational teams in diagnosing and resolving complex mechanical issues.
• Working safely and ensuring RAMS compliance.
• Participating in standby and call-out rota to support operational resilience.
• Contributing to continuous improvement of asset performance and reliability.
