Job summary

Tate Recruitment in Southampton is seeking a Technical Service Engineer/Consultant for a full-time role, offering up to £30,000 per year. The position involves hands-on mechanical and electrical work, supporting wastewater treatment systems, and travelling to customer sites.

You will assemble and test equipment, support installation and optimisation, deliver demonstrations and training, prepare reports, and maintain records while fostering strong customer relationships across environments.

Qualifications

• Level 2 qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Experience working with mechanical and/or electrical equipment.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Good IT skills to produce professional reports and documentation.
• Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Building, assembling and testing equipment using mechanical and electrical components.
• Supporting installation, maintenance and optimisation of wastewater treatment systems.
• Visiting customer sites to assess performance, diagnose issues and implement practical solutions.
• Delivering technical demonstrations, training and customer support.
• Preparing technical reports, documentation and maintaining accurate records.
• Supporting product testing, quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Identifying opportunities to improve equipment, processes and system performance.
• Developing strong customer relationships and supporting business development activities, including meetings, demonstrations and exhibitions.
• Providing occasional support to another division of the business, which may involve travel, site visits and technical investigations.
