Job summary

United Utilities is seeking an experienced Business Analyst to dive into wastewater data and turn complex information into clear, actionable insights. You will interrogate large datasets, work with GIS data, and present findings to senior stakeholders to shape decisions across the wastewater network.

The role focuses on turning analysis into practical recommendations, supporting operational and strategic decisions, and improving data quality and reporting methods.

Qualifications

• Strong analytical skills with experience interrogating large datasets.
• Full UK driving licence and ability to travel to operational sites across the North West when needed.
• Advanced Excel skills and using data to answer complex questions.
• Experience using GIS and geospatial data to support analysis.
• Ability to go beyond reporting, analyse information, and draw evidence-based conclusions.
• Strong problem solving and independently choosing analytical approaches.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management to translate analysis for varied audiences.
• Ability to manage multiple analytical requests in a fast-moving environment.

Responsibilities

• Analysing and interrogating large datasets to identify trends, patterns and actionable insights.
• Investigating complex business questions and determining the most effective analytical approach.
• Exploring data from different perspectives to uncover the story behind the numbers.
• Producing meaningful analysis that supports operational and strategic decision-making.
• Managing and manipulating data using Excel and other analytical tools.
• Working with GIS and geospatial data to develop insights and visualise information.
• Responding to a variety of analytical requests from stakeholders across the business.
• Presenting findings in a clear and accessible way for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Supporting the continuous improvement of data quality, reporting and analytical methodologies.
• Developing an understanding of the wastewater network and assets to enhance analysis.
