Job summary

Murray McIntosh is seeking an experienced Project Manager to deliver a portfolio of wastewater capital schemes across Somerset, with project values from £5m to £15m. You’ll oversee from development through handover, coordinating internal teams, consultants and contractors while ensuring safety, budget and regulatory compliance.

The role offers hybrid working in Somerset and immediate ownership of complex infrastructure projects within a major capital programme.

Qualifications

• Proven experience delivering wastewater, water or utility infrastructure projects.
• Experience managing capital projects valued between £5m and £15m.
• Strong experience managing consultants, contractors and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Knowledge of project controls, programme management, budget management and risk management processes.
• Experience working under NEC3 or NEC4 contracts.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Degree qualified in Engineering, Construction, Project Management or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Managing the successful delivery of wastewater capital projects valued between £5m and £15m.
• Coordinating multidisciplinary teams including internal engineering, operational, commercial and construction functions.
• Managing external consultants, designers and technical advisors throughout the project lifecycle.
• Overseeing all project phases from concept and detailed design through construction, commissioning and handover.
• Managing project budgets, programmes, risks and opportunities to ensure successful delivery outcomes.
• Ensuring compliance with NEC contract requirements, governance procedures and health and safety legislation.
• Working closely with Quantity Surveyors, Planners and delivery partners to monitor project performance and key milestones.
• Leading project reporting activities, providing updates on progress, costs, risks and delivery objectives.
• Building and maintaining effective relationships with internal stakeholders, contractors, regulators and local authorities.
• Identifying and mitigating project risks at the earliest opportunity to minimise programme and cost impacts.
• Reviewing consultant deliverables and challenging technical proposals to ensure quality, value and deliverability.
