Job summary

Reconomy Connect is seeking a Waste Supervisor to lead the on-site waste and recycling operations at the University of Hertfordshire sites in a 32.5 hour week, Monday to Friday. You will drive sustainability by maximizing recycling rates, ensuring safe handling of waste, and supporting both CBRE and university management teams.

The role requires hands-on leadership, strong stakeholder engagement, and a commitment to best practice in health and safety across campus facilities.

About the role

Looking for a role where no two days are the same? As our Waste Supervisor, you'll play a key role in keeping the University of Hertfordshire sites running smoothly, leading a dedicated team that delivers essential waste management and recycling services across campus. Working 32.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, you'll champion sustainability by helping maximise recycling rates, ensuring waste is managed safely and efficiently, and supporting both the CBRE and University management teams.

You'll also oversee a range of added‑value site services, building strong relationships with stakeholders and driving best practice every day. If you're a hands‑on leader who enjoys making a visible impact, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

Key Responsibilities:

What we need from you

• A full UK driving licence
• Proven experience within waste management, recycling, or environmental services.
• Previous experience leading, motivating, and developing a team.
• Experience working in a large-scale operational, manufacturing, facilities, or site-based environment.
• A hands‑on approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Strong relationship-building skills, with the confidence to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused mindset.
