Job summary

Brackenberry Ltd is recruiting a Waste & Street Cleansing HGV Driver in Walsall for a 2.5-month contract with a high likelihood of extension. The role involves operating HGVs, supervising a crew, and delivering efficient frontline waste services across the borough.

You must hold a valid HGV Class 2 Licence and a Full UK Driving Licence, with up to 3 penalty points, and have previous HGV driving experience. Availability on short notice is desirable.

• Previous experience driving HGV vehicles.
• Good knowledge of safe driving practices, the Highway Code, and vehicle safety procedures.

Job description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Walsall to assist with the appointment of a Waste & Street Cleansing, on a 2.5-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion.

Rate of Pay: £15.85 - £21.70 per hour

Summary

The Waste & Street Cleansing HGV Driver is responsible for safely operating HGV vehicles across Walsall Borough, carrying out commercial and household waste collections, street cleansing, bulky item collections, and related environmental services. The role includes supervising a waste collection crew, ensuring compliance with driving and safety regulations, and delivering efficient frontline waste management services.

Responsibilities

• Drive and operate HGV vehicles for commercial and household waste collections.
• Lead and supervise a waste collection crew.
• Carry out commercial food waste, refuse, recycling, bulky waste, and bin delivery services.
• Operate mechanical sweepers and assist with fly-tipping removal.
• Perform routine vehicle checks and basic maintenance.
• Valid HGV Class 2 Licence and Full UK Driving Licence (maximum 3 penalty points).
• Previous experience driving HGV vehicles.
• Good knowledge of safe driving practices, the Highway Code, and vehicle safety procedures.
• Ability to supervise and work effectively with a waste collection crew.
• Ability to carry out waste collection, street cleansing, and related environmental services safely and efficiently.
