Job summary

North Yorkshire Council is seeking a Service Development Manager (Waste) to lead a specialist team responsible for developing and delivering innovative waste services across North Yorkshire.

In this strategic leadership role you will work closely with senior leaders, operational teams, elected members and external partners to drive service transformation, customer-focused improvements, and behavioural change programmes that support our environmental ambitions.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience within the waste management sector.
• Strong leadership, stakeholder engagement and performance management skills.
• Excellent knowledge of waste legislation, policy and industry best practice.
• A degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent industry experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of waste policies, strategies and transformation projects.
• Manage and develop a team of specialist professionals.
• Drive improvements to customer experience, performance and service delivery.
• Lead countywide communication and engagement campaigns to support harmonised waste services.
• Work with stakeholders to promote sustainable waste practices and support the Council's net zero ambitions.
