Salary/Grade: Grade 9 £33,699 to £36,363 per annum

Hours: 37 hours per week

Contract Type: Permanent

Location: Eckington and Southern Vehicle Hub and as required by Council including travel within the district

Job Details and Requirements

About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Waste and Recycling Supervisor to lead our frontline waste management operations and new food waste collection service.

This is a key role ensuring the efficient, safe, and environmentally responsible collection, disposal, and recycling of food waste across our district.

You will be responsible for supervising a team of operatives, coordinating daily operations, maintaining high standards of service delivery, and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support waste and recycling collection teams on a daily basis.
  • Plan and allocate routes, resources, and staff to ensure timely and effective service delivery.
  • Monitor performance and provide coaching, training, and support to team members.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Liaise with colleagues and the public to resolve service issues.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports on operations, incidents, and performance.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and environmental responsibility.

About You

  • Proven experience in waste management, recycling, or a similar operational environment.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good understanding of health and safety regulations.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Full UK driving licence Category C.
