Job summary

JT Recruit is seeking a Waste Operations Officer to oversee day-to-day management of operational staff across Leicestershire's RHWS and WTS. This hands-on, field-based role requires regular travel between sites and a 37-hour week.

The position is a 6-month contract with potential to extend; experience in waste management, strong communication and IT skills are essential; a valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are required.

Qualifications

• Experience managing operational teams within waste management or similar environment.
• Strong communication, IT, and organisational skills.
• Experience delivering training and managing compliance.
• Full UK driving licence, access to a vehicle, and business-use insurance.
• Level 4 COTC is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Manage and support operational site teams, including HR processes, performance management, and staff development.
• Deliver training, toolbox talks, and safety briefings.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety procedures, environmental permits, and Waste Duty of Care legislation.
• Monitor waste movement records, site documentation, and quality management processes.
• Manage stock levels of PPE, equipment, fuel, and site consumables.
• Handle customer queries and complaints professionally.
• Occasionally drive a Council 3.5-tonne vehicle.

Waste Operations Officer

Location: Various sites across Leicestershire (RHWS, WTS & County Hall)

Pay: Competitive (negotiable for candidates with relevant experience and a valid COTC)

Hours: 37 hours per week (occasional weekend work required)

This is a hands-on, field-based management role requiring regular travel between sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and support operational site teams, including HR processes, performance management, and staff development.


• Deliver training, toolbox talks, and safety briefings.


• Ensure compliance with health & safety procedures, environmental permits, and Waste Duty of Care legislation.


• Monitor waste movement records, site documentation, and quality management processes.


• Manage stock levels of PPE, equipment, fuel, and site consumables.


• Handle customer queries and complaints professionally.
