Site Manager – Waste Management
Location: Hinckley
Salary: From £45,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm (1-hour lunch break). Additional hours may be required to meet operational needs.
About the Role
We are recruiting for an experienced Site Manager to join a well-established and growing waste management business based in Hinckley.
This is a hands‑on management role responsible for the day‑to‑day operation of a busy waste processing site. You'll oversee site operations, transport planning, staffing, compliance, health and safety, and financial performance while leading and developing a dedicated team.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day‑to‑day operational performance of the site.
- Ensure full compliance with site permits and environmental legislation.
- Oversee transport planning, customer bookings and site logistics.
- Take responsibility for site profitability, including purchasing, waste disposal costs and infrastructure expenditure.
- Optimise site processes to maximise efficiency and productivity.
- Monitor stock levels and ensure materials remain within permit limits.
- Promote and maintain high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance across all site operations.
- Work closely with the Assistant Manager to organise staffing and daily workloads.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies including the Environment Agency and Health & Safety Executive.
- Plan for future site growth and operational improvements.
- Manage contractors, plant maintenance schedules and equipment servicing.
- Oversee recruitment, shift planning, training, holidays and employee performance.
- Support staff development, career progression and maintain strong team morale.
- Ensure all routine and preventative plant maintenance and safety inspections are completed on schedule.
About You
- Previous experience within the waste management or recycling industry (essential).
- Management or supervisory experience within an operational environment.
- Strong knowledge of health, safety and environmental compliance.
- Excellent leadership, organisational and communication skills.
- Experience managing operational budgets or profit and loss responsibilities.
- A proactive, hands‑on approach with the ability to lead from the front.
- COTC (Certificate of Technical Competence) qualification is highly desirable.
