Job summary

IMH Recruitment is seeking an experienced Team Leader to join a busy depot in Leeds. You will manage a domestic waste collection service, supervise frontline crews, coordinate routes, and maintain safety and service standards in line with policy.

The role requires strong people management, customer focus, and good IT skills. Weekly pay is provided at £19.32 per hour, with on-site parking available.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day operations within a designated area and city-wide when required.
• Coordinate crews, manage service updates, and forward plan to handle failures.
• Ensure adequate crew coverage and fleet resources for service delivery.
• Assist Fleet Services in vehicle coordination and safety/maintenance checks.
• Investigate and resolve complaints following policy.
• Enforce Health and Safety protocols and promote a safety culture.
• Investigate and report incidents/accidents.

Job description

IMH are recruiting for an experienced team leader ideally from the waste sector to join our clients busy depot.

Job purpose & context:

To lead and manage an efficient, customer focused, and high-quality domestic waste collection service for the city of Leeds.

We collect around half a million household bins every week in Leeds.

Our Team Leaders are the key link role between our frontline crews and the operational management team.

Accountabilities:

• Undertake day to day supervision within a designated area of responsibility, and on a city-wide basis when required, with management and monitoring to ensure that allocated tasks are completed safely, to schedule and agreed standards
• Coordinate crews and services, communicate with managers and others on any service/route/crew issues either verbally or through service update reports, and ensure forward planning to deal with any service failures when required.
• Take responsibility, when required, for ensuring the service is fully crewed and that fleet resources are available to ensure the service is delivered.
• Work with Fleet Services and assist in the coordination of vehicle fleet across the services and, where required, ensure that vehicles are in a safe, clean and serviceable condition.
• Investigate and resolve complaints regarding the service in accordance with the Council’s Complaints Policy.
• Ensure that all Health and Safety protocols are implemented in line with relevant legislation, corporate performance and industry standards and good practice.
• Promote a positive health and safety culture within the service by ensuring communication, control, co-ordination and co-operation is maintained within the service and any other appropriate stakeholder
• Investigate and report on incidents/accidents.
