Job summary

Biffa Group in Campbeltown, Argyll & Bute, is seeking a Lead Operator to support the Area Manager and lead site Operators at the waste facility. You will help implement environmental compliance, manage daily duties, and coordinate housekeeping, waste processing, and incident reporting to meet 30-day close-out targets.

With front-line leadership responsibilities, you will supervise the operations team, ensure PPC permit compliance, and maintain equipment and safety standards on a day-to-day basis.

Qualifications

• Experience leading teams in a waste management environment.
• Mobile plant operation experience with telehandlers certification.
• Knowledge of weighbridge systems and duty of care requirements for waste management.

Responsibilities

• Lead, guide, and support adherence to SHEQ policies and procedures.
• Ensure waste is accepted, managed, processed and disposed of in PPC permit compliance.
• Act as Authorised Person for Permit to Work for the site.
• Supervise and provide direction to site operations team.
• Provide primary point of contact for site staff.
• Monitor housekeeping processes and carry out audits.
• Keep equipment clean and maintained for a safe environment.
• Coordinate day-to-day offtake requirements.
• Ensure timely completion of actions by Area Manager.
