Job summary

Bradford Council’s Waste Services is recruiting two Waste Collections Managers to lead a large team across domestic and commercial collections. Based at Harris Street Depot, Bradford, you will oversee up to 240 staff and 80 vehicles, driving service improvements while maintaining safety and compliance.

You will recruit, onboard and supervise staff, manage performance data, liaise with stakeholders, and present reports to senior figures. Regular shifts Tue-Fri with overtime as required.

Qualifications

• Experience in waste management and compliance with disposal legislation.
• Proven track record managing frontline teams.
• Knowledge of vehicle operations and route optimisation.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily operations ensuring routes are fully staffed and minimise disruption.
• Liaise with stakeholders to trial and adopt new processes.
• Analyze data from In-Cab devices and body cameras to monitor performance.
• Ensure accidents on public highways are reported and resolved.
• Prepare and present reports to the Waste Collection Service Manager and senior staff.
• Induct and train staff; conduct annual appraisals and monitor training needs.
• Organise staff meetings and communicate operational requirements.
• Address concerns/complaints and carry out risk assessments.
