Job summary

Thurrock Council is seeking a Waste Collection Assistant to join the Waste & Recycling Team on a permanent basis. The role requires reliable, self-motivated individuals with good communication and customer service skills to engage with colleagues and the public in a polite, professional manner.

You will work as part of a small crew, handling refuse, recycling, garden and food waste, using cab devices, and performing heavy manual labour.

Qualifications

• Good communication and customer service skills to engage with colleagues and members of the public.
• You must be a team player, quick learner and able to carry out a range of duties.
• Physical fitness and mobility required due to heavy manual labour and machinery use.

Responsibilities

• Operate vehicles and cab devices as part of a small crew.
• Move, handle and load refuse, recycling, garden and food waste.
• Work with minimum supervision and comply with safety requirements.
