Job summary

Derby City Council is seeking a Refuse Driver/Collector to support the city's refuse and recycling operations from about 130,000 homes. You will drive and supervise crews, ensuring safety and vehicle readiness while delivering a reliable collection service.

The role offers 37 hours over four days (Tue–Fri, 06:00–15:45) with potential overtime and a full induction. Applicants must have LGV/C1 license with Driver CPC and be physically capable of walking long distances in all weather.

Qualifications

• Must hold LGV Class C or C1 7.5t with Driver CPC.
• Physically fit; able to walk up to 20 miles per day in all weathers.
• Good IT skills and ability to generate written/verbal reports.

Responsibilities

• Be the chargehand for the round and supervise refuse collectors.
• Ensure daily vehicle checks and safe operation of vehicles.
• Maintain cab and exterior cleanliness of vehicles.
