Job summary

We are seeking a warm, enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our Birchmere Mews Care Home in Knowle, Solihull. You will support the catering function, preparing meals and beverages while maintaining high hygiene standards to ensure a safe, high-quality service for residents.

Ideal candidates hold a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate and have knowledge of Health and Safety, Fire Safety and COSHH. You will work efficiently in a busy team, showing initiative and genuine care for residents and visitors.

Qualifications

• Hold a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate and demonstrates high standards of personal hygiene.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety, particularly Moving and Handling techniques, Fire Safety and COSHH assessments.
• Be an efficient worker, capable of a high level of sustained physical effort and able to respond to a demanding workload.
• Demonstrate initiative and display a positive and flexible aptitude to team working.
• Exhibit a caring and understanding attitude towards the residents.

Responsibilities

• Understanding the principles of safe food handling to ensure all kitchen preparations meet high hygiene standards.
• Contributing fully to team working, responding positively to colleagues, and actioning work instructions promptly.
• Advising on the supply and quality of items used to carry out tasks, ensuring timely ordering of replacements.
• Acting accordingly towards residents and their visitors, respecting their dignity and individuality.
