Job summary

SIG Roofing is seeking a Yard Warehouse Operative/Van Driver to join our Nottingham branch. You will help with stock receiving, storage, picking, loading, and safe vehicle handling. The driving element is on an as-and-when basis, supporting peak periods and ensuring timely deliveries.

You’ll work in a safety‑minded team, maintaining accurate stock records, and promoting a culture of safety every day. Previous warehouse or yard experience is beneficial, and a can-do attitude is essential.

Qualifications

• Forklift licence is required or essential.
• Good data accuracy and numeracy for stock and orders.
• Basic IT skills for record keeping and systems.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety procedures.
• Experience in a warehouse/yard environment is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assist with deliveries, unloading and loading of vehicles.
• Receive and store goods in correct locations within the yard/warehouse.
• Prepare customer orders and load onto vehicles.

What’s the role?

As a Yard Warehouse Operative/Van Driver you will be a key part of the day-to-day operations of the branch. Your role will focus on ensuring the receiving, storage, picking, and loading of stock is completed efficiently and accurately, contributing to the smooth running of the branch. You will work within a supportive and safety-focused environment, helping our team provide the best possible service to our customers. The driving element will be on a as and when basis.

What you’ll be doing:

• Assisting with deliveries in unloading and loading of vehicles at the branch
• Receive and store goods accurately in the correct locations within the warehouse/yard.
• Prepare customer orders according to sales requirements and load them onto vehicles.
• Sign for deliveries, report stock breakages, and maintain accurate stock records.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe warehouse environment.
• Carry out daily checks and maintain forklifts and other mechanical handling equipment in a safe working condition.
• Promote a “Everyone Safe, Every Day,” culture by ensuring the safety of yourself and colleagues.
• Be flexible and assist with stocktaking and overtime as required.

What you’ll bring:

• A valid Forklift Licence
• Good data accuracy, numeracy, and basic IT skills.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety procedures.
• Previous experience in a warehouse or yard role is advantageous.
• A flexible and adaptable approach with a can-do attitude.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
• A customer-oriented mindset and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
