Selecta is seeking a proactive Warehouse Team Leader (PM shift) in Hemel Hempstead to drive daily operations, safety, and accuracy in a fast-paced distribution environment. You will lead teams, plan workloads, and coach staff to hit KPIs across goods handling, picking, and dispatch.
As the escalation point for operational issues, you will cover for the Logistics Manager when needed and contribute to continuous improvement within a technology-driven warehouse platform.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in a warehouse/logistics leadership role.
- Experience managing multi-shift warehouse operations (ideally day and night).
- Strong understanding of warehouse operations and safety practices.
Responsibilities
- Lead warehouse staff across shifts and departments; allocate labour to workload.

We are seeking a proactive and hands-on Warehouse Team Leader on the PM shift to support the day-to-day running of the warehouse operation in a fast-paced distribution environment.
This role is responsible for leading teams to achieve daily operational targets across goods handling, picking, dispatch, and general warehouse activities while maintaining high standards of safety, accuracy, and housekeeping.
The Warehouse Team Leader will act as the first point of escalation for operational issues and provide cover for the Logistics Manager when required.

- Lead and manage warehouse staff across relevant departments and shifts
- Allocate labour daily in line with workload and operational priorities
- Communicate clear work instructions and performance expectations
- Motivate teams to meet productivity and service targets
- Conduct team briefs, coaching, return-to-work meetings, and training
- Plan daily workloads and resource deployment
- Monitor progress against output targets and KPIs
- Reassess priorities to ensure deadlines are met
- Escalate resourcing shortfalls or operational risks to senior management
- Ensure all work procedures and SOPs are followed correctly
- Maintain high housekeeping and operational standards
- Support continuous improvement of warehouse processes
- Maintain effective use of warehouse management systems (WMS)
- Ensure all warehouse activities comply with H&S legislation, company policies, and standard operating procedures.
- Conduct risk assessments and promote a strong safety culture across both shifts.
- Maintain accurate logs of safety incidents, near misses, and ensure corrective actions are taken.
- Work with internal logistics and inventory teams to ensure smooth goods in/out processes.
- Support daily reconciliation, stock rotation, and bin location accuracy.
- Escalate any discrepancies or issues in stock movement or system updates.
- Identify and implement process improvements in warehouse layout, flow, and shift efficiency.
- Lead and support warehouse audits, shift reviews, and corrective action plans.
- Support recruitment of warehouse operatives where required
- Train employees to a high standard across warehouse functions
- Monitor performance and provide ongoing feedback and development
- Encourage multi-skilling across departments
- Act as first line escalation point for day-to-day operational issues
- Resolve queries efficiently and resolve where necessary
- Experience leading teams within a warehouse or logistics environment
- Understanding of warehouse operations and WMS systems
- Knowledge of Health & Safety best practices
- 3+ years of experience in a warehouse/logistics leadership role.
- Experience managing multi-shift warehouse operations (ideally day and night).
- Strong understanding of warehouse operations, WMS, and PDI processes.
- Knowledge of FMCG or high-volume distribution environments preferred.
- Effective leadership and team-building skills across multiple shifts.
- Strong communication and handover management across day/night teams.
- Comfortable using warehouse management systems and Microsoft Office.

- Target: ≥ 99.5%
- Measures: Number of correct picks vs total picks.
- Order Dispatch Timeliness
- Target: ≥ 98% orders dispatched on time.
- Measures: Orders leaving the warehouse within scheduled cut-off.
- Stock Accuracy (Cycle Count Variance)
- Target: ≤ 0.5% variance.
- Measures: Physical vs system inventory accuracy.
- Shift Productivity (Units Picked per Hour per Person)
- Target: Set benchmark based on SKUs handled.
- Measures: Average pick rate by shift.
- Warehouse Safety Incidents
- Target: Zero reportable incidents per quarter.
- Measures: Near-misses, injuries, or breaches recorded.
- Staff Attendance and Shift Coverage
- Target: ≥ 95% attendance rate and full shift staffing.
- Measures: Shift fulfilment vs roster, unplanned absences.
