Job summary

Culina is recruiting a Warehouse Shift Manager in the Chilled & Fresh division in the United Kingdom. The role is full-time and permanent, with a 4 on 4 off night shift, 18:00–06:00.

You will support the Operations Manager in daily warehouse operations, ensuring safety, quality and timely picking and dispatch to meet KPIs. Responsibilities include leading a large shift team, maintaining health and safety, managing Goods Inwards, and driving continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Operational management experience within a FMCG warehouse environment.
• Strong knowledge of warehouse health & safety legislation and incident investigation.
• Experience leading and mentoring a large team.
• Knowledge of consolidation and loading operations in FMCG.
• Experience with WMS systems and interrogating information.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Excellent prioritisation and communication skills.
• Proficient in MS Office (Word and Excel).
• Ability to drive continuous improvement and standard adherence.

Responsibilities

• Lead and motivate the shift team to meet productivity and KPI targets.
• Maintain health, safety and hygiene standards and complete required paperwork.
• Ensure quality/compliance to audit standards and site procedures.
• Deliver briefings and gather input for improvements from shifts.
• Manage Goods Inwards to ensure fast, safe stock receipt.
• Develop team members and implement succession planning.
• Conduct disciplinary/ grievance interviews per company policy.
• Monitor sickness absence and conduct return-to-work interviews.
• Oversee time and attendance, and provide performance feedback.
• Plan manpower, overtime and agency resource for efficient shift operation.
• Enforce company policies and ensure safety representations on shift.
• Coordinate training and health & safety coverage; support ad-hoc duties.

Job description

As part of our Chilled & Fresh division, we have an exciting opportunity to join the team as a Warehouse Shift Manager on a full-time, permanent basis. Shift: 4 on 4 off nights, 18.00-06.00. As a Warehouse Shift Manager you will contribute to the success of the site by supporting the Operations Manager in the day-to-day running of the warehouse, ensuring all aspects of Health & Safety within the Warehouse are maintained and product is picked and dispatched to the highest standard in order to meet contractual KPI's.

Key Duties of a Warehouse Shift Manager:

• Manage and motivate the shift team in order to ensure that productivity and service KPI's are achieved or exceeded.
• Ensure the highest possible levels of health, safety and hygiene are upheld so that legislative and quality requirements can be complied with, ensuring relevant paperwork is completed and retained.
• Ensuring the highest levels of Quality and compliance are maintained and that the site operates to the Audit standard required.
• Deliver communication briefings so that all shifts are aware of all Company and local issues and employees are able to offer input / improvements and feel involved.
• Manage Goods Inwards area to ensure that receipts are made quickly and without damaging goods so that stock is available to satisfy orders.
• Develop all team members so that their contributions to the Warehouse can be maximised and succession plan.
• Carry out disciplinary / grievance interviews and investigations in line with Company procedure.
• Monitor and control sickness absence levels in line with Company policy and carry out return to work interviews effectively and efficiently.
• Monitor and control time and attendance system.
• To offer regular feedback, formal and informal, on team and individual performance, including behavioural issues and highlighting good performance and areas for further development.
• Man power planning, by ensuring the appropriate levels of overtime and agency workers to efficiently and cost effectively run the shift.
• Enforce and adhere all Company policies and procedures.
• Monitor and control training for teams, ensuring the correct amount of health & safety representation on shift, i.e. First Aiders, Fire Marshalls etc.
• Support Management in any ad-hoc duties within the Warehouse function.

What you’ll need …

• Operational management experience within a FMCG warehouse environment
• Have a good working knowledge within a Warehouse and Logistics operation.
• Experience of Leading and Mentoring a large team
• Knowledge of warehouse health & safety legislation, including accident and incident investigation and root cause analysis
• Knowledge of consolidation and loading operations in FMCG Industry
• Previous experience of WMS systems with the ability to interrogate the information
• The ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure.
• Effectively prioritise work load in order to meet set deadlines.
• Good communication skills
• Good working knowledge of MS Office - Word and Excel
