Job summary

W Talent is partnering with a growing organisation in Barnsley to recruit a Warehouse Supervisor. This role supports the Warehouse Manager, supervises a team of operatives, and ensures safe, accurate handling of goods from receipt through to dispatch.

You will lead by example, maintain high standards, and contribute to continuous improvement in warehouse processes, while prioritising safety and teamwork within a busy distribution environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in a warehouse/logistics environment, ideally in a supervisory or team leader role.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, guide, and manage a team effectively.
• Hands-on approach with a willingness to work alongside the team during peaks or busy periods.
• Solid understanding of warehouse processes: goods-in, storage, picking, packing, dispatch.
• Strong knowledge of health & safety practices within a warehouse environment.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Confident using IT systems, including Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
• Ability to prioritise workload and adapt to shifting operational demands.
• Experience in a technical or engineering-related product environment (e.g. heating, cooling, renewable energy, or electrical equipment).
• Health & Safety qualification (IOSH or NEBOSH preferred).
• Forklift licence or experience operating material handling equipment (MHE).

Responsibilities

• Support the Warehouse Manager in leading day-to-day warehouse operations.
• Supervise a team of warehouse operatives.
• Ensure safe, accurate, and efficient handling of goods from receipt to dispatch.
• Maintain high operational standards and a hands-on approach with the team during peaks.
