Job summary

Bamford Contract Services Ltd is seeking a Stores Operative in Salford to handle stock control, goods-in, and material picking to support the production team. You will ensure deliveries are checked, stock is accurate, and stores are well-organised on a daily basis.

The role requires reliability, strong attention to detail, and a willingness to learn new skills, including potential forklift/crane training as needed, in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a warehouse, stores, or logistics environment is essential.
• Experience in stock control, goods-in, order picking, or materials handling would be an advantage.
• SAP experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of 5S, Lean, or continuous improvement methods would be beneficial.
• Willingness to undertake forklift and crane training.

Responsibilities

• Receive and check incoming deliveries, ensuring goods are correct and processed in line with company procedures.
• Carry out regular stock checks and inventory counts to help maintain accurate stock levels.
• Store materials in the correct locations and keep the stores area tidy, organised, and easy to navigate.
• Pick and issue materials in line with production schedules, ensuring the production team has what it needs on time.
• Move and manage picked and backflushed materials to support the smooth running of production.
• Use SAP, where applicable, to record stock movements and maintain accurate inventory records.
• Work closely with colleagues, production teams, and suppliers to help resolve queries and ensure materials move efficiently through the business.
• Follow health and safety procedures and help maintain a safe working environment.
• Take part in safety checks and workplace improvement activities.
• Follow quality procedures and make sure tasks are completed accurately the first time.
• Help investigate stock discrepancies and quality issues, and contribute ideas for preventing problems in the future.
• Follow standard operating procedures and suggest improvements where appropriate.
• Assist with other stores and goods-in duties as needed.
• Be willing to undertake additional training, including forklift and crane training where required.
